NASA Astronauts exercise their right to vote through a complex process involving advanced technology and careful coordination:

🗳️ Requesting a Ballot: Astronauts request absentee ballots using a Federal Post Card Application.

📡Secure Transmission: Ballots are encrypted and transmitted through NASA's Near Space Network to ground stations.

✅Verification and Casting: Ballots are verified by NASA and then forwarded to the appropriate election officials.

This incredible feat of logistical coordination ensures that astronauts can participate in democracy, even from the International Space Station.

On this day in 2007, STS-120 marked a significant milestone in International Space Station assembly. The mission delivered the Harmony Node 2 module, a crucial component for expanding the station's capabilities.

Commander Pamela Melroy led the mission, making her the second woman to command a Space Shuttle. The crew also included @astrodocscott, @astro_wheels, Stephanie Wilson, @astro_paolo, George Zamka, and @astro_tani.

Weather Watch for Crew-8 Return! 🌧️

NASA and SpaceX are closely monitoring weather conditions near the splashdown zones off Florida.

The next weather briefing is planned for 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday, Oct. 16. If weather conditions improve, NASA and SpaceX will target no earlier than 3:05 a.m., Friday, Oct. 18, for undocking from the space station.
